Playa del Rey, California. The history for Playa del Rey begins in a Village where the Gabrielino Indians once lived in the year of 1750. The area is now known as Playa del Rey, which means the Last Stop Before The Pacific.

Playa del Rey is said to be the center of some of the best beaches on the Pacific Coast. To the south of the area you will find El Porto, Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo, Torrance, and Palos Verdes. To the north Marina del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica and the Malibu Beaches.

The community is a friendly Town surrounded by Wet Lands and the Pacific Ocean. The area is easily accessible to the town's sister city of Marina del Rey, all it takes is a walk to the pedestrian bridge that connects the two cities. This area has one of the greatest harbor’s on the Pacific Ocean and you will be able to view the boats coming and going out of the harbor, or walk along the bike path that hugs the sand and the sea.

Playa del Rey is one of the fabulous cities where you have no need for your car, unless it's just to get here. Instead you can walk to the beach, or to your favorite restaurants, cafe's, taverns, or stores. When the heat is on in L. A. you will find this area to be cooler in temperature and without the added smog.
